Post Cards to Commence Print E-mail
331

With more than 1,000 members in the fold for 2008, we want to make sure we do not overlook anyone in our renewal campaign. To underscore the value of membership, the association's Membership/Marketing Committee has created a series of post cards that, starting next week, will be mailed to non-renewing members.

We want you back, and with the help of our post cards, telemarketing and other outreach efforts, we hope you get the message and continue to receive the benefits of AMOA membership.

Renewing is easy. You can fax it in to 847-428-7719. You can call it in to 800-937-2662. You can mail it in to AMOA, 33 W. Higgins Road, Suite 830, South Barrington IL 60010. Or the quickest way would be to renew on-line here.

New Show Countdown: 20 Weeks Print E-mail
Thanksgiving is 34 days from today. The Holiday Season is upon us. And, the new show being developed by the American Amusement Machine Association (AAMA) and AMOA will be here before you know it.

On a daily basis, show planning is underway. While spring 2010 may seem like a ways off, it's not too early to be making plans to attend. Start by making note of the dates and place: March 10-12, 2010 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

We will keep you posted as details take shape for the all-new debut of the "Single Spring Show" for the coin-op and out of home entertainment industry. With attendees and exhibitors of the former ASI and AMOA International Expo coming together, along with the Fun Expo -- now 50 percent owned by IAAPA -- next March in Vegas promises to be a very special time and place for our industry.

Membership Nears 1,000 as JLO Deadline Looms Print E-mail
As February gets underway and the Midwest shovels out from yet another snowstorm, AMOA's 2008 membership roster inches closer to 1,000. As of today, the breakdown is: 803 operators, 47 distributors, 43 manufacturers, 20 suppliers and 40 members in the "other" category.

The March 15 JLO license fee deadline is nearing and operators wishing to take advantage of a $26 per box discount (after the first JLO license is purchased) must be 2008 AMOA members with a current AMOA-JLO identification number (AKA AMOA Member ID number). For more information, contact AMOA at: 800-937-2662.

Renewing is easy and fast. You can renew by calling us at 800-937-2662 or by faxing it in to 847-428-7719. You can also mail in to the AMOA HQ, 33 W. Higgins Road, Suite 830, South Barrington, IL 60010. Or better yet try renewing online at www.amoa.com. Click on the link "Pay Your 2008 Member Dues Online Here," fill in the info and click submit. AAMA Maintains Profile at ATEI Print E-mail
321This year, the American Amusement Machine Association's (AAMA) group stand included four exhibiting firms: Rock-Ola, ESD, Benchmark Games and Pyramid Technologies. Overall feedback on the show by these participating firms was positive, with a good flow of visitors. AAMA offers members favorable pricing, enhanced visibility and a turnkey package approach for exhibitors at ATEI and other trade shows as part of its Location Trade Show program.

In the accompanying photo, AAMA President Mike Rudowicz, AAMA Chairman Dave Courington (of Valley Dynamo); AMOA President Lloyd Williamson (of Williamson Amusements); and AMOA Executive V.P. Jack Kelleher, visit at the AAMA Pavilion at ATEI yesterday, the final day of the three-day show.

Kudos to the Group of 8 Print E-mail
groupof8.jpgDiscussions for a single coin-op trade show can be traced to the Dinosaur Age. Well, more the better part of two decades anyway. But, it wasn't until summer 2008 that both AMOA and AAMA directed people, resources and a renewed sense of urgency to making it happen.

In mid-July 2008, four delegates from each association -- along with a professional, independent association/trade show facilitator -- gathered in suburban Chicago to begin to draw up the blueprint for the organization.

Countless hours of negotiations -- conference calls, emails and meetings -- spanned more than a year, but just before the 2009 Expo, the leadership of both AAMA and AMOA approved the creation of the new show.

Special thanks to the eight individuals who "made it happen." Pictured at the July 15, 2008 meeting are, left to right: Donovan Fremin, Russ Mawdsley, Gary Brewer and Lloyd Williamson -- representing AMOA; David Cohen, Dave Courington, Frank Cosentino and John Schultz -- from AAMA.

Moving forward, six of these individuals will comprise the Board of Directors for the new show. Dave Courington and AAMA President Schultz have been replaced by Neal Rosenberg and Rich Babich.
