This week, the Las Vegas Hilton has lowered the pricing for its upgraded rooms. The nightly rate for the Premium room has been reduced by $20, to $139.95 and the rate for the Resort Club rooms -- which offer guests access to the exclusive Resort Club lounge for complimentary food, beverage and other amenities -- has been slashed by $30 per night, to $179.95.
The rate for the Classic rooms at the Las Vegas Hilton was previously reduced by $33 per night to $129, so there are pricing options to cover a range of room types.
Attendees and exhibitors have even more options at the adjacent Hilton Grand Vacations Club, with a studio suite starting at $89 per night.
And housing isn't the only deal in town. Vegas is offering special discounts on virtually everything: restaurants, shows, tours, golf and even gambling! There has never been a better time to tap into these cost-saving offers than during this year's September 24-26, 2009 AMOA International Expo. Visit the official show website: www.amoashow.com to register, secure housing and to find complete details.

Sometimes, one person can and does make a difference. Veteran op Doug Minter of Tip Top Amusements, Carson City, NV, discovered a potentially devastating measure that was proceeding through the state's legislature while reading the local newspaper recently.
It was the second part of the proposed measure that got Doug worked up. The first part was the doubling of the $100 fee that operators like Doug pay to the state for an annual business license. But it also called for the fee to be applied to each location where an operator conducted business.
"That would have added thousands of dollars to operators' cost of doing business," Doug related.
While the Amusement & Vending Operators of Nevada is mostly inactive these days, according to Doug, he still serves as the contact for the association and placed an urgent call into the organization's lobbyist, who was effective in communicating the industry's views on the harmful effects the bill (AB 146) would have imposed on operators' businesses.
The bill was amended so as to eliminate the "per location" application of the $200 business license. A good ending, thanks to Doug's advocacy.
It's the same old story, though. Those who saved $10,000 (50 locations x $200) or more as a result of the actions taken are the same individuals who balk at paying their annual membership dues to the state association or refuse to show up to a meeting. Next time, maybe?
