The annual AMOA Membership Directory is one of the industry's most valued reference tools, with contact information on coin-op's best and brightest firms.
Advertisers in this year's edition can save by acting early. AMOA is offering a $100 discount on full page ads and a $50 discount on half-page ads off the published rate. The only requirement is that ad materials, with payment, must be received at the AMOA offices by April 17.
For more details about the directory, including rates and specifications, please contact Maggie Kapinos at 800-937-2662 or via email at

Larry Elbert, Camden Amusements, Des Moines, IA, was the recipient of the prestigious "Operator of the Year" Award during the pre-show ceremonies for this year's ASI Show in Las Vegas.
Elbert, a former AMOA director, is a principal in the Club Lucky organization and is actively involved in many facets of the industry, from various manufacturer advisory councils to leadership in his state association and recently, as a graduate of the first Masters Program of the AMOA Management Development Program at the University of Notre Dame.
Elbert underscored his optimism about the future of the industry, acknowledged PlayMeter Magazine, sponsor of the "Operator of the Year" Award program, and offered a special thanks to his wife, Carrie, who was on hand for the ceremony, which coincided with the couple's wedding anniversary.
From all of your friends and colleagues at AMOA, congratulations Larry on this well-deserved recognition!

With so much negative news, it's challenging to find some positive stuff to crow about in coin-op these days. But we know it's out there, and AMOA is asking its members, trade press or others affiliated with our business to share some of their good news with us.
A few years ago, even when it seemed every report about video games was negative, there were a few nuggets -- studies that showed how the military, airline pilots and kids were improving their hand-eye coordination, reflexes and other skills by using video games -- that helped counter some of the negative news.
Couldn't we -- you -- use a little break from the sometimes depressing headlines? Tell us what you're doing in your community or how you've organized charity events. Submit some articles you have archived about the merits of the equipment you sell and the positive experiences your patrons have enjoyed.
While some good news isn't going to make all the problems go away, it may help us endure them just a bit better.

As February comes to a close, AMOA membership stands at an impressive 1,085 members. As of today, the breakdown is: 935 operators, 53 distributors, 47 manufacturers, 15 suppliers, 35 members in the "other" category.
The March 15 JLO license fee deadline is nearing and operators wishing to take advantage of a $27 per box discount (after the first JLO license is purchased for $434) must be 2009 AMOA members with a current AMOA-JLO identification number. For more information, contact AMOA at: 800-937-2662.
Renewing is fast and easy. You can renew by calling us at 800-937-2662 or by faxing it in to 847-428-7719. You can also mail it in to the AMOA HQ, 33 W. Higgins Rd, Suite 830, South Barrington, IL 60010. Or better yet try renewing online at www.amoa.com. |
