FREE Notre Dame Money
38How often would you pass up free money these days? We're passing out fistfuls of it in the form of a $2,500 scholarship to incoming Class XIV of the AMOA-Notre Dame Management Development Program. The scholarship was established earlier this year in memory of long-time AMOA director Ray Shroyer.

There is a brief application for the scholarship that consists of five short questions and the opportunity to finish this sentence: "My hope is that my participation in the AMOA-Notre Dame Management Program will make me a better..."

That's it. No trick questions. No hidden fees. Just a few moments of your time and the chance to walk away with a FREE $2,500. The deadline for submitting an application is next Friday, August 22. Class XIV is scheduled to commence October 17-20, 2008.

FREE Seminars -- Just Sign Up

As in years past, the AMOA International Expo meets and exceeds standards with the seminar line-up starting up on Wednesday, September 10. Consisting of six seminars with seven sessions, the line-up covers everything from business development to honing of technological skills.

Beginning bright and early on Wednesday, September 10, is "A Shot at Redemption for Route Operators: Making it Simple and Easy." The seminar runs from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. and features AMOA Past President Frank Seninsky. Frank will show attendees the magic formula to making money in the redemption game.

On Thursday, September 11, AMOA has a jam-packed day with three seminars. First the morning begins with the two-part "Intro to LCD Monitor Repair." Part 1 runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Part 2 will run from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Both sessions, led by industry veteran Ray Holdren, will provide attendees with a solid foundation on the basics of LCD monitors. Both sessions require pre-registration; click here to get set up.

"Get Wired" at Expo
We saved the best explanation for last. There is one more seminar, the sixth and final seminar, being offered at this year's Expo and that is "Get Wired!...With Your Own Company Website." This one is special because it is helping roll out a NEW Member Benefit! And it gets better! AMOA will waive the development fee for the first 50 firms that sign up to attend the session.

Come see how the program works. Jim Pietrangelo, WebCamp One, LLC and AMOA Past President will lead the session on Wednesday, September 10 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Anyone can attend but only AMOA members in good standing can be eligible for the special offer. And the offer is only good for those registrants who attend the session. So if you sign-up and don't show up, you are out of luck.

Hot Off the Press: 2009 Council Meeting Dates, Place Set
187The annual gathering of coin-op leaders from around the country -- the AMOA-sponsored Council of Affiliated State Meeting -- is set for February 5-7, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix at Civic Center in the downtown area of the city.

The session, which includes both volunteer and staff delegates, is considered one of the most important information exchanges on the industry calendar each year. In addition to presentations and panels on timely topics, the series of state reports that address specific issues affecting members around the country serve as the core focus for the two-days of interactive discussions.

Chairman Bobby Hogin and members of the AMOA State Association Committee encourages all who are active in the leadership of their association to participate.

AMOA covers the cost of one nights' stay at the headquarters hotel (limit two delegates per state), as well as meeting materials, two receptions and virtually all meals. There is no registration fee to participate.

Innovator and Show Specials Deadline Draws Near

78Next week is the deadline for two popular AMOA Expo productions: The Innovator Awards Program and the
Show Specials Program.

The Innovator Awards Program was developed to recognize the efforts of manufacturers and suppliers in bringing exciting, new products to market for the coin-op industry. All program entrants go through a thorough pre-screening process with the final judging happening on the show floor in September. Your company must be an AMOA member exhibiting in the 2008 show to be eligible.

It's easy to enter but please read the guidelines, as some have changed. Download a copy of the entry form here.

The second Expo Program is the AMOA Expo Show Specials Program - a great way to offer discounts to show attendees and increase traffic to your booth. Show-goers can shop the specials prior to September plus they get a list of all the offers in their show directory. To download an entry form, click here.

The deadline for the Innovator and Show Special Programs is next Friday, August 1. For questions on either program, please call (800) 937-2662.
