Hesch Scholarship Awards Out Next Week
The 48 recipients of the 2012-13 Wayne E. Hesch Scholarship Awards will be mailed their checks — $1,000 each — next week. The program, created and maintained under the auspices of the Coin-Op Cares Charitable and Education Foundation, has been in existence since 1985 and has helped hundreds of college students — most of them connected to the coin-op industry — pursue their academic goals during the past 27 years.
The scholarship is named in the memory of the late Wayne E. Hesch, AMOA's President in 1979. The cornerstone of the program is an annual fundraiser conducted during the Amusement Expo. Each day of the show, an equipment raffle is held, with a big-ticket item serving as the grand prize and focal point of the high-profile booth. This year, a 2012 Ford Mustang was the grand prize.
