Good Luck, Bill!
Eight weeks ago, we reported on the then-imminent retirement of Bill Glasgow, Sr., founder, owner and president of W.T. Glasgow, Inc., the trade show management firm that, many years ago, carved out a niche in producing events for the coin-op business.
A couple of nights ago, a few Chicago area clients and friends were invited to join members of the W.T. Glasgow staff near the company's headquarters in the far south suburbs of Chicago for a dinner feting the retirement of Bill, Sr., which officially occurred at the end of June.
As usual in a room occupied by Bill, he "held court" with his family, friends and fans, reminiscing about people, places and predicaments he encountered along his journey in food and beverage and trade show businesses.
It was an enjoyable evening, and I left feeling honored, on behalf of AMOA and myself, to have such a classy, well-respected guy like Bill Glasgow calling the shots for our most visible product, the trade show(s), for the past 14 years.
While I think I can speak for most everyone at AMOA and the industry who worked with Bill in saying he will be greatly missed, I hasten to add that, as he rides off in the sunset — or the Gulf Coast of Florida, more likely — he leaves the office in good hands, with sons Brian and Bill, Jr. (left and right of Bill, Sr., pictured here) and a strong team of seasoned staffers in the Orland Park, Ill., office.
Best of health, happiness and success in the future, Bill, and thanks ... for a career well done and lots of fun. It's been a great run!
